Uecker Evening 2022: Book Release and Lecture

On November 3, 2022, the Uecker Evening 2022 will take place. Entitled “Penetrations of Space,” the GUI will celebrate the release of the first volume of Notizen zu Uecker and introduce the 5th Günther Uecker Research Fellow, Dr. Nick Böhnke, in Schwerin.

The Günther Uecker Institute (GUI) invites you to the Uecker Evening “Penetrations of Space,” taking place on November 3, 2022 at 5 p.m. at tisch co-working space (Martinstraße 11, 19053 Schwerin).
On this evening, the Günther Uecker Institute (GUI) will present Volume 1 of its series of publications Notizen zu Uecker, published by Deutscher Kunstverlag. Under the title “Man’s Inhumanity: Günther Uecker’s Conceptual History Paintings,” art historian Dr. Katrin Nahidi analyzes a work by Uecker in which the artist intensively addressed the radical right-wing riots in Rostock-Lichtenhagen. This year marked the 30th anniversary of the events.
Afterwards, the GUI will introduce the current Günther Uecker research fellow Dr. Nick Böhnke. The art historian, currently residing in Kiel but a native of Schwerin, will open up a central aspect of Uecker’s oeuvre via his investigation of the artist’s formal processes of painterly reliefs created in the late 1950s.
