Workshop discussion

At the workshop discussion for the 2026 Günther Uecker Research Fellowship, Claudia Kudinova presented her project, “On Light: Light and Perception in the Work of Günther Uecker and Its Mediation in the Museum Context,” in Schwerin. Together with Prof. Dr. Claudia Blümle (Humboldt University of Berlin), Dr. Björn Egging (Director, Staatliches Museum Schwerin), Birgit Baumgart (Museum Educator, Staatliches Museum Schwerin), Jacob Uecker (Uecker Archive, Düsseldorf), and our Scholarly Director, PD Dr. Katharina Neuburger, Kudinova discussed the current state of her research.

Reflecting the project’s central themes, we began our discussion in front of Uecker’s Lichtbogen in Schwerin Cathedral and subsequently had the opportunity to continue the exchange in the museum, where we engaged with additional works by Uecker. Encountering the original works together opened up new and compelling perspectives. The workshop discussion format provides our fellows with valuable new impulses and insights for their ongoing research.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated and look forward to the results of Claudia Kudinova’s project.
