5th Günther Uecker Research Fellowship Awarded

Günther Uecker Institute awards research fellowship to Dr. Nick Böhnke

The 5th Günther Uecker Research Fellowship 2022/2023 will be awarded to the art historian Dr. Nick Böhnke. With this fellowship, the Günther Uecker Institute supports Böhnke’s research on Uecker’s early painterly actions. His research project currently has the working title “Penetrations of Space: Reflections on the Iconic Processes of Form at the Ground of Günther Uecker’s Painterly Reliefs from the Late 1950s.”
In a statement of its reasons for awarding the research grant to Nick Böhnke, the jury emphasized that his “understanding of Uecker’s finger painting as an object between the haptic and the visual, between the development and completion of form, [opens] up new aspects in the work of the artist Günther Uecker.”
