Volume 4 of Notes on Uecker will be published in March
In Golestani and Schönfelder’s study In the Universe of Signs: The Semionaut Günther Uecker, Günther Uecker’s working method is discussed as a process of “performative translation” (Bourriaud). His work is examined here as a mediator between worlds and media. One focus lies on his print cycle Homage to Hafez, 2015, in which the artist enters into an intercultural dialogue with the poetry of the 14th-century Persian poet Hafez. In doing so, Uecker works on linguistic, medial, and cultural levels. According to the authors, the performative practice underlying his approach allows this and other works by Uecker to be interpreted beyond essentializing attributions.
Volume 4 of the publication series Notes on Uecker will be published by Deutscher Kunstverlag on 3 March 2026.
