TCAA-Publication Now Available Online

The first digital publication of the Institute for Environment & Design (IUG) brings together documents from our international and interdisciplinary project Training Creative Acts and Action and is now freely accessible on our website.

Training Creative Acts and Action brings artistic practice, theory, and research into an intensive exchange between international artists and theorists. At the center of the project is an exploration of the concepts of “training,” “exercise,” “practice,” “action,” and “mediation,” understood as both artistic and social forms of action. Taking as its point of departure Hannah Arendt’s question of “what we do when we think,” the project examines how thought, the body, and action intersect, and how artistic research itself can become a site of critical knowledge production. Through theoretical impulses and practical exercises, action in the broader sense is considered from a range of disciplinary perspectives as a form of thinking, while its role in contemporary discourses is critically reflected upon.
