GUI scholarship holder publishes research paper on Günther Uecker

We are pleased to announce the publication of Xiao Xiao’s doctoral dissertation “Philosophy and the Arts of East Asia in the Work of Günther Uecker.” It has been published by v. Hase & Koehler Verlag and is now available. With a special focus on the influences of East Asian cultures and the concept of emptiness, art scholar Xiao Xiao examines Günther Uecker’s perceptual consciousness in the context of his creative process. Congratulations to our former research fellow!

This will be followed in the autumn of 2023 by our joint publication, Volume 2 of the GUI series Notes on Uecker. Featuring an essay by Xiao Xiao, “Günther Uecker’s ‘Artistic Actions’: An Intercultural Investigation,” which was produced during her GUI fellowship, the book will be published by Deutscher Kunstverlag. The volume also brings together works by photographer Lothar Wolleh and a short essay by Antoon Melissen.
